Blog readers: oh you few/proud/likely not all there in the head people, I have been requested to restart my writings of the inner workings of my mind. While I claim to be a realist, I also understand the realms of pessimism and optimism. This post, is optimistically realistic...I don't know if this will be true, I plan on just writing.
Its come to my attention that I "talk too much". Having heard this at least twice in the last month or so, I've had to think about what this means. While I have the skill of the pen (read: keyboard), I will always prefer my primary communication be in the medium of the spoken word, til I am old and weathered. I can express myself clearly via the written word, however, there is not a more original thought than the "word vomiting" that goes on daily in my life.
I understand the need for deep thinkers and people who are considerate of every sound that comes out of their mouth, I really do, I am not one of those people. Let me tell you why:
Why? well, there are only so many hours in the day to sit, think, and be quiet. I prefer to do so while deep in "slumbertown". I prefer to spend the rest of my time using the voicebox the good lord gave me! While there is little evidence as to why this is important from the previous statement, if you think and consider every word that comes out of your mouth, you are likely to forget something that could have an effect on the moment or far beyond (ok, so I understand this is the reason for choosing your words but fuck that). The greatest fear I have is to not be able to tell a story, a joke, an honest statement about someone/something during a particular time. Moments come and go, it is my attempt to make sure the small part about life that I have control of, expressing myself verbally, can happen when it should/needs to.
While everything I say is sometimes not logical, I would have extreme heartache if I actually had to think about the things that I spew from my mouth. My verbal vomiting allows me to purge both unnecessary and important information. While this may be annoying, I can pretty much guarantee a genuine (read: life changing) thought at the end of my verbal diarrhea. I will apologize for being long winded, I will not, however, apologize for talking. Conversation, communication, talking is one of my favorite pastimes. I have met only a handful of skilled talkers as I. Talking not only leads to uncovering new information about people, but is also the basis for jokes which cause laughter - something I love more than speaking itself.
I implore you, "you who thinks to much", to just speak! It might not make sense at first, I know the thought of that is difficult, but I promise there will be peace and less war in the world (yes, I just made that up and being a little sassy here). I will also be far more amused than looking at you struggling to develop a thought. Nothing is worse than sitting and waiting for a response, think while I'm speaking, you are likely not listening anyway. When this is done correctly, you can converse in an uninterrupted manner - this is the point of verbal communication. If this doesn't work for you, please go right ahead and give non verbal cues -this is at least more entertaining than watching a thought develop behind a thick cranium.
Ok, this has taken more of a pessimistic/cynical turn, the point is...speak don't think when you are around me. I would love to hear the stream of consciousness as it pours from your mind, straight to your lips. I am intrigued by the workings of the mind, let it play by speaking aloud these deep thoughts that are swimming around deep in your subconscious.

On Winter Weather
dear winter,
Not only is this open letter for you, winter, but also you, phil, of puxatahnee (however u spell that one!). While I appreciate what you are doing for me, in terms of the desire to bundle up and stay warm, you are also failing in a few categories, allow me to elaborate:
1) Work did not get as much as a 1 hour delay today, this, is unacceptable. First off, if you are going to unleash "winter weather", go ahead and just straight up unleash it. This leads to my next point,
2) Please, unleash on days when I am to be at work, not on Saturday. Last time on a Sunday was fine but I'm looking for more of you on the weekdays...get to it.
3) Here is my biggest complaint concerning the recent "chill" in the air: short sleeves, short skirts, and shorts. I miss, dearly, all three of these things. I also miss wearing sandals and swimming and sun dresses. I really wish Phil had stayed in his whole thus not being able to see his shadow and thus guaranteeing the things I love about warmer weather.
I would like to end my comments to you, "Winter", saying that I do appreciate what you do but I really want a hot dog from a grill, a burger nicely blackened, a baseball game in person, a bikini here and there, and all the other joys that show up once you're gone.
I bid you a fond farewell in your off season, better luck next year/this weekend when you snow the fuck all over me.
Thanks again.
Seth

On my mind v heart dilemna
From the Mind (read: brain) of Seth Gleeson:
Dear Heart,
While you got a bit of good news the other day when our horoscope said that you would out duel me for dominance, I have a bit of bad news for you. I plan on fighting you, HARDCORE!
Look, Heart, you do good things! You love, you pump blood, you keep me working but you have some serious issues when it comes to making logical decisions. While certain situations/people may be enticing and you may be preparing emotional connections/have them already, you should know that they are quite illogical. Why can't you find something nice close by and pursue that? What is the fascination with setting yourself up to be let down, hurt, or disappointed (which are all kinda the same...brain lapse sorry!).
Well, look, I may not like every decision that you make but it is true, you typically cause me a great deal to think about and when you are happy the thoughts usually fall in line.
Keep up the good work, just wanted to touch base but you should know, I'm cutting you off and making the important decisions if you start over thinking with that great big heart instead of this well above average intelligence brain that is up here on your shoulders.
Best from the top,
Brain

On Replying All...
UPDATE:
The current reply all email frenzy is now on its approximate ohh 20th email?
Here' are some favorites:
enough is enough let's get back to work ya'll
Please stop "replying to all."
I count 14 emails so far. Thank you everyone! :-D
I love how this happens every year. This whole Reply to All thing really makes my day.
INCOMPETENT!
A current office email was sent to a large contingent of employees. This email required employees who were out of scope on a certain "project" to let the contact know that they in fact were not to be included in this email. The instructions asked for a reply telling the contact of the situation.
Now, if I fit this criteria, I would have clicked "Reply" and shot an email over to the correct contact. Instead of doing this, the fucking retards that I work with decided instead to click "Reply-All" when sending this email back to the contact. My inbox is now full of stupid responses when this could have easily been prevented by clicking "Reply" instead. Funnier than this is the email to all saying "Lets hit Reply to All so everyone gets a response". This response was also followed with other "cease and desist" emails, telling people that click "Reply-All" to STOP.
Case in point of being able to be aggressive via email as long as you drop an "Ok, Thank you!, Best! (insert your name)".
Thank you internet for making hostile and passive aggressive communication possible.
Best!
PS: The funniest part was that one of the people clicking reply all has, not only an MS, but a PHD...guess it doesn't teach you common sense. Oh well

On being a stupid boy...
Dear reader, this is a purge:
Since an early age (ok, probably only a handful of years ago) I decided to fall in love with the female persuasion. No, this does not mean that I didn't love the ladies before, but now its uncontrollable. I feel like I walk down the street, go to work, drive around town and fall in love with everyone I see.
Now, I'm obviously using love here in a "not actually meaning love" kind of way. The fact of the matter is, however, the whole idea of actually doing the "in love" thing sounds good again. I must say, though, the process of allowing yourself to become attracted or emotionally involved with someone is far more difficult than I remember. While I may have some feelings currently, I find myself second guessing these feelings. Its funny to think that the fear of hurt is worth more than the feeling of love, like, or infatuation. So when all doesn't go as planned, what do you do? you distance yourself. This is natural. I don't want to do this, I don't want to think about pulling away but it seems to keep coming up in my head, "don't hurt yourself" my brain keeps saying.
I envy those who are in love, serious relationships, or married. Would I envy them if I were in those situations? no, I'd probably want the hell out, but from the sidelines....it looks pretty good.

On Party Invitations...
I've currently invited a group of individuals in the metropolitan area to my house for a soiree.
I am a big fan of the "party" and would hate for this to ever be an idea of the past. In college, I believe myself and my group of friends, were known for throwing some kick ass ragers, if you will. These parties were typically themed, decorated according to theme, and including the finest foods and drinks.
Here are a few examples:
Seafood party: This included steamed, old bay crab and oysters on a half shell. These were decorated with some lovely newspaper covering the table as well as drawn butter and cocktail sauce. We served a lovely pilsner and drank and ate til our hearts content.
Pig Roast: Thats right, a whole pig was roasted in the back yard. Nuff said.
Graduation Party: This included some fine bar b q as well as the now famous invention of the game Pelopenisian war. If you don't know it, tough.
Some other parties included the Christmas party, super bowl party dorm style (2005), the "Preemptive we caught osama bin laden" party, as well as many more thrown between Manning and Woodale...our party palaces.
Now, since moving to DC, I have been to about 2 handfuls and some toesful, "house"/"apartment" parties. These have been alright by in large, most have fallen far short. My own party, at one juncture, totally failed. I am hoping to revive my trend of hosting with a Beer Tasting on Friday. I invite you all to come. This will be Beer Tasting part 2, the first, MAJOR success.
Here's hoping for the best, the guests, and people staying long enough to do odd things/puke/hook up/fall asleep on my floor.

On Being School Teachers...
When I look back at Elementary school, I can recall some clear teacher to teacher friendships. These friendships likely blossomed after each respective teacher was employed by the school district, but what if you entered as a congregation of friends...follow my lead, could end up as a TV program someday.
Here's how I see it:
There are a lot of young minds out there that need molding. I can think of no better people (read: worse) than me and my friends instructing these children. Think "Its Always Sunny" with a teaching impressionable youth, twist.
Am I advocating doing this in real life? Yes, I kind of am. What a great way for friends to see each other everyday, eat lunch, work few hours, and have summers off to hang out. We could all live next door to one another and find ourselves shooting the shit and drinking ourselves silly in the local bar, trying to avoid our children and their parents.
Ok, I admit, this sounds like a better sitcom than real life but I propose by making this a sitcom, it becomes similar to real life.
Long story short, I think we should consider this idea. I invite the script for this or the first move at making this a reality. I know we all have our skills and interests. We could shape young minds while having the same amount of fun that we've always known being together would bring us.
To the children...or the actors who someday may play these fake kids!
